A newspaper that gives its reader what the reader wants will last in this competitive world, Discussed journalists at Suryadatta seminar – Current trends and Opportunities in different segments in print and electronic media

National Journalism Day - SCMIRT

Suryadatta felicitated journalists from various print and electronic media organisations on the eve of National Journalism Day. To salute the spirit of journalism, Suryadatta School of Communication felicitated journalists from different media organisations (print & electronic) across Pune on the eve of National Journalism Day on Nov 15.

Working Chairman, Maharashtra Rajya Hindi Sahityik Academy Dr Damodar Khadse was the chief guest. Other dignitaries present include Dr Keshav Phalke, Chairman, Maharashtra Rajya Loksahitya Samiti, Dr Sunil Deodhar of Akashvani, Pune, Shri Abhilash Khandekar, Maharashtra State chief of Dainik Bhaskar Group and many other veteran journalists.

At the seminar on ‘Current trends & Opportunities in different segments in print and electronic media,’ key-note speaker Abhilash Khandekar said, “Newspapers should understand the needs of people.” A newspaper that gives its reader what the reader wants to read only will last in this competitive world. The biggest challenge before the media is to ensure quality content considering the changing tastes of readers.

Mr Phalke said that journalists should not report just for the sake of it but should be objective and concerned. As the social structure has largely become media-centric, journalism should not remain only a profession. A journalist is responsible for overall development of the society. One does not become successful overnight. It requires tremendous hard-work and will power to achieve success in this field. She/he does not become a journalist because of her/his degrees but because of her/his virtues! The responsibilities of journalists have increased manifold because society has become media-centric.

Following journalists were felicitated with Swami Vivekananda Puraskar- Umesh Ghongade (Sakal), Sameer Kodilkar (Prabhat), Swapnil Pore (Kesari), Dinesh Thite (DNA), Parag Potdar (Lokmat), Arun Nigavekar (Saamana), Swapnil Bapat (Saam), Mandar Gonjari (Star Maaza), Pratibha Chandran (Sahara Samay), Narendra Chavan (Next Gen), Appa Dingankar, Anand Agrawal, Nandkumar Sutar, Arun Mhetre, Advait Mehta and Imtiyaz Jalil.

Another motive behind this programme was to motivate and inspire budding journalists and students of journalism. The programme was an inspiring platform for students who wish to make a career in journalism and those studying journalism. Dr Sanjay Chordiya – Founder President and Chairman, Suryadatta Group of Institutes was present on the occasion.
